Seetting off on Thursday to go to Jo'burg by bus(!) and spend a long weekend there together with Stefan (now a surfer boy from Hawai'i). Gafee offered her apartment and even her driver for free...

We both got a little sick but we made the most of it, our stops included:

  • Joburg CBD
  • SAB World of Beer
  • one stroll through the night where we couldn't find a restaurant - pretty scary...
  • Apartheid Museum
  • grabbing lunch in Soweto, while the Springboks played All Blacks in Soccer City in front of a crowd of 90.000 - Springboks lost...
  • visiting Mandela House in Soweto
  • walked the streets of Melville during daytime, gazed into all the bars & clubs and shops...
  • found 'Melville visitor's center' and a very cool tour guide
  • spent half a day exploring the city of Jo'burg and its mining history
  • came back to Melville saturated with knowledge in the evening and enjoyed a great dinner in the 'Lucky Bean' aka 'Soulsa' restaurant & had a few cocktails in a slightly gay bar, too...

Flew back on Monday, as travelling by bus is fine only once. Stefan to Sydney and Hawai'i respectively, I to East London. Took me 14 hours by bus and 1,5 hours by airplane...

Norberts maid (actually his landlord's mid) invited all of us to come over to her house in Mdantsane Township for lunch. It was a beautiful sunday in November and everyone came and was hungry too...

We also had a look at Elsie's house and walked round the block to digest... all over sudden the kids were everywhere ;)
